I am writing to report several issues I have been experiencing with my HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28w, specifically related to the drivers and scanning functionality.

Every time I need to scan a document, I have to reinstall the older driver because Windows 11 keeps automatically updating to the newer driver, which causes problems. With the updated driver, the scanner doesn't function properly, often freezing midway through the scan and making clicking noises from the motor. Additionally, the option to scan with OCR, which was one of the key reasons I purchased this model, is no longer available.

The current application recommended by HP, "HP Smart," does not offer the main options I need to use with my device.

I believe the current driver has issues that need to be investigated, as this problem persists across multiple updates.

Could you please assist me in resolving these issues? I would appreciate any guidance on how to prevent the automatic driver updates and restore full functionality, including OCR scanning.
