@jmhauf, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your HP ENVY 5660 printer keeps displaying a "Photo Tray Problem" error even though the photo tray is not blocked, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue:

Reseat the Photo Tray

Place the Printer on a Flat Surface: Ensure your printer is on a stable surface to avoid any tilt that might affect tray alignment.

Push in the Output Tray Extender: If extended, gently push it back in.

Pull Out the Input Tray: Reach under your printer's input tray handle and slide the tray out, but do not remove it fully.

Pulling out the input tray

Remove the Output Tray: Carefully remove it to access the photo tray.

Removing the output tray

Ensure the Photo Tray is Correctly Seated: Verify that the photo tray guide tabs (grey) slide beneath the main tray guides (black) on both sides.

Making sure the photo tray is seated correctly

Adjust if Necessary: If the guides are not aligned, gently reposition the photo tray to align the tab gaps, then press the tabs back into position carefully.

Aligning the tab gaps

Reinstall the Output Tray: Align the edges of the output tray with the input tray and place it back.
