@deezire, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Are you using US letter size sheets?

Have you tried using the automatic document feeder to make copies and check if the issue persists?

Resetting the printer, cleaning the rollers and loading the paper correctly into the input tray may resolve this issue. Let us try these steps:

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Refer to this document to know how to load the paper.

Let me know how this goes.

Hello,

Out of Paper error, printer does not pick up paper

Clean dust from the pickup rollers and separator pad inside the document feeder.

  1. With the printer on, disconnect the power cord.

  2. Lift the document feeder cover.

  3. Dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled water, and then squeeze any excess liquid from the cloth.

  4. Clean the separator pad and rollers with the cloth, rotating the roller with your fingers to completely clean them.

  5. Allow the rollers to dry for 10 minutes.

  6. Lower the document feeder until it snaps into place.

  7. Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
