Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended
LaserJet 100 color MFP M175nw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The problem is very simple: the automatic document feeder (ADF) is not working at all. It does not recognize me placing a stack of paper in it, and as such will not pick them up for scanning or copying. I tried resetting to factory defaults and a fresh firmware installation, with no succes. Is there another way to completely start over on the printer (say, get the software, including the firmware back to the device's birthday)?

Hi,

Thank you for visiting HP Forum,

I can certainly help you on this.

  1. Open ADF cover/lid and check for any obstruction in ADF paper path
  2. Make sure that the paper sensor is toggling freely.

Note : The ADF sensor will look like vertical black flag which toggle freely, When media is placed in ADF then vertical sensor depressed and trigger message “Document loaded”.

Below is 2 sample image of different product for reference to let you know how the ADF sensor look like (circled in red)

3. Clean the pick roller and separator pad and close the ADF lid firmly.

4. Load the paper in ADF push the Paper in until it is engaged with pick roller.

5. The product often makes a beep, or a message appears on the control panel display when paper is inserted in ADF input tray.

6. Adjust the media guides until they are snug against the media without restricting movement.

7. Try making copy

Hope this helps you !

I can't seem to find the problem. All is clean, the flag is toggling (the black one in your photographs).

The weirdesg part is that the printer itself does not even seem to know it carries the ADF. It shows no errors, warnings or notifications about the ADF whatsoever...

Thanks again for the reply. Since a second, identical printer evolved a different set of problems I merged both faulty printers into one perfectly healty one. So, the ADF problem is not a problem anymore.

Hi, I have the same problem. The ADF has been cleaned and is not jammed. The ADF sensor is simply not detecting paper input. Please advise

I have the same problem.

Laserjet 100 Color MFP M175nw just doesn't seem to know that the ADF is there. No messages, no errors. Nothing. It used to work - then just stopped one day.

Thanks for reaching out to the forums! I understand that you are having issues with the paper being recognized in the ADF. I would be happy to help you.

I have provided a document for the issue with the ADF not working to try in addition to the steps already provide in this thread:    'Document feeder mispick' Message Displays on the Control Panel and the ADF Does Not Pick Up Paper o...  The document is for another printer, but they are very similar to the steps provided in this document.

If the issue continues the printer will need to be serviced, please contact  HP Customer Support to find out what service or trade-in options are available. Fill in the model number and the form to receive a case number for quicker assistance.

If the issue is resolved and you appreciate my help, please click the "Accept as Solution" and the "Thumbs Up" buttons. Let me know how you make out. Cheers!

My Laserjet 100 ADF quit working also.

Did you ever get your ADF to work? If so, what did you do to fix it?

HP Recommended
No, I never did get the ADF to work. I even replaced the mechanism, and it still does not work. Ordinary scanning and copying works, but not the ADF.
HP Recommended

its the ADF cable, you have to change it, then it works again...
