Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Have a 1536dnf that will not install the scanner apparently or scan function?  Prints fine but scanner utility does not install at all and the HP Scan Extended Utility gives a connectivity issue... although it does detect the scanner by name?

This is really odd, have found various similar complaints with no solutions other than downgrading the OS?

OS I'm trying to install on is 24H2

Try universal scan driver

Old printers are supported for printing in W11 getting scanner to work is more tricky.

I tried that but the installer is "unable to find the device" , buy IP and the Netbios name the port/printer is set to print to.  I changed the port to the IP... it is a static IP and nothing.

I can put the IP into a browser and get to the printer web page just fine... turned off Windows Firewall and still nothing.

Printer installs (Universal or Product specific) but the scanner just is a no go?  The HP scan utility does not install so I installed the HP Scan Ext... which I like anyway because I can duplex scan.

I digress... It's installing something somewhere I can't see though in devices... I'm up to  #6 at this point.

This is the error message I get when I do try to scan with the HP Scan Ext app

To tack onto my own thread... I've found that the HP Smart app available in the Windows/MS Store does allow me to scan.  Not full featured like the HP Scan Extended I like to use with this printer but it does work.  The native scan application does not install either.

Found an HP page that somewhat speaks to a similar issue to what I'm having... but does not resolve my issue.  My 24H2 is greater than the version it notes... the .bat file on the page registers DLLs that are different than what my device has installed in its Device Manager entry.

It's quite odd, but using the HP Smart app at least gives me some scan functionality in the rare occurrence of me scanning things.

Meanwhile still interested in a 'fix' if there is one vs the band aid for now.... I'll be messing with it as well.
