Product: HP Officejet3831
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I scanned 26 pages of text with HP Officejet3831 and HPSmart on Windows 10. The resulting pdf was a unreadable, damaged file. Both Acrobat Reader and Gimp reported this. I scanned the same first 21 pages and the resulting pdf was readable.  Is there a limit on the size of pdf file HPSmart can produce ? Is this documented somewhere ? Is there a workaround ? I would expect to get an error message when such a threshold is reached.

That's correct! The limitation is the RAM.
