Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

HP Laserjet Pro M148f
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When using autofeed for copying or scanning, all pages have a vertical line running full page length.  If I manually copy or scan the pages, there is no line.  The scan bed is clean.  The line shows up in the preview window and on printed pdf copies.

This seems like a software problem to me, but HP offers no assistance.  The printer has only run thru one cartridge, so it has not been abused.

 I have this same problem.

I had it last week but then I did a software update and it went away.

Now it is back.

Cleaning the glass does not work.

HP is no help.

The time this issue costs in money is more than the cost of this printer.

I am going to throw it out, or maybe ask for my money back.

How old is your system?  Mine was purchased in April 2019 and used only lightly. I will try the software update.  Maybe it will help.

Well, I got an 800 number when I purchased my unit.

They are going to send over a tech person to replace the top.

Should I assume that your unit is less than one year old?  HP says mine is out of warranty.

Actually, replacing the Top does not make any sense, unless your problem persists on manual scans and copies.  Mine only shows up when I am using the autofeed.  The mechanism that does the scanning is the same in both processes - the software enables the autofeeder to present the page for scanning.

I would be curious as to the Technical explanation for this issue.  Thanks for sharing.

I did a little more studying of the copy / scan process.  The autofeed uses a window at the top of the flatbed for imaging, while the plate scan moves the scanner head over the page.  My top window must have had a particle on it, as the line has disappeared after a thorough cleaning.  That said, perhaps your window has a flaw, but it does not explain why it went away and then came back.  It appears that we have two different problems.  Good luck in your solution.
