Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

M425, when setting up scan to folder using EWS folder cannot be found. This is a domain location so I think I may have the syntax incorrect. On the Network set up page I have the Domain name listed its XXX.org. login and password are XXX1/Username - Password. Is this correct?

I tried all those suggestions. Nothing worked, what fixed it for me was to enable SMB V1. Windows has disabled this scanning protocol but the M425 requires it for scan to folder. Hope this helps someone out.

Hi @NBMDS,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you might be having issues with the syntax or configuration when setting up scan to folder on an HP M425 printer using the EWS (Embedded Web Server). Let's break down the elements you mentioned and see if we can identify any potential issues.

  1. Domain Name: You mentioned that the domain name is listed as "XXX.org." Make sure that this is the correct domain name for your network. If your domain is actually "XXX.org," then this part seems correct.

  2. Login and Password: The format you provided is "XXX1/Username - Password." However, it's more common to use the format "Domain\Username" for the login. In your case, it might be something like "XXX1\Username." Also, make sure that the password is correct.

Here's a step-by-step guide to setting up scan to folder.

  1. Access the EWS:

    • Open a web browser and enter the IP address of your HP M425 printer.
    • Log in to the EWS using the administrator credentials.
  2. Navigate to Scan to Folder Settings:

    • Look for the "Scan" or "Scan to Folder" option in the EWS menu.
  3. Configure Scan to Folder:

    • Enter the path to the folder on the network where you want to save scanned documents. Use the UNC (Uniform Naming Convention) path, which typically looks like "\ServerName\ShareName\Folder."
    • Enter the username and password for the account that has access to the specified folder.
  4. Check Domain and Login Format:

    • Ensure that the domain name is correct.
    • Use the format "Domain\Username" for the login credentials.
  5. Verify Permissions:

    • Make sure that the account you are using has the necessary permissions to write to the specified folder.
  6. Test the Configuration:

    • After saving the settings, perform a test scan to see if the documents are successfully sent to the designated folder.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
