Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

We have an HP Laser MFP 137 FNW. We are using the HP Smart app to print and scan over wifi. The printer often goes offline and the only way we can resolve this is by disconnecting the router. The moment the router power cable is disconnected, the printer starts printing documents in the que. Unfortunately this only works with the printing. we cannot get the printer to get back on line for scanning apart from rebooting the PC. This is extremely frustrating as all work needs to be closed. This is not an isolated problem It is the same on 2 Laptops one running windows 10 and the other windows 11. Please can someone assist

Hi @J77456,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

I understand that you are facing issues with scanning.

It appeared to be a disconnect between the HP Smart App and the Windows 10 OS.

Use the Printers and Scanners app in Windows 10 settings to uninstall the printer.

Then uninstall the HP Smart App by using the Uninstall Programs and Apps utility in Windows settings.

The next step was to go to the Windows store again and install the HP Smart  App again.

This time after it reinstalled the driver software everything worked as expected. Click here for firmware and drivers.

Keep me posted.
