I've been trying to make copies on my printer OfficeJet 4650.  I tried the steps provided, but continue to get the error message "Incorrect Paper - copy does not support statement. Load a supported size of paper in the tray to continue..."

Please tell me what other options do I have to make copies.

@IvonneR

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.

I understand that you have an HP OfficeJet 4650 All-in-One Printer. I read that the printer is unable to make a photocopy. The printer displays a message saying "Incorrect Paper - copy does not support statement. Load a supported size of paper in the tray to continue..." I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.

To assist you better, I would like to know the following information:

  • Did any hardware changes or software updates happen for the printer?
  • Is the printing working fine?

I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
  • Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
  • Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
  • The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector.
  • Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.

I suggest you to check the copy settings and ensure that the correct paper size is selected. Please refer to the copy settings mentioned in "Step 2: Copy the document or photo" from this HP document.

If the issue persists then let us update the firmware on your printer. The firmware can be downloaded and installed via this link. You may restart the printer after the firmware is installed.

Post the firmware update once again let us try to make a copy. Finally, you reset the printer if it continues to not make a photocopy. I have sent you a private message with the reset steps.

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Please feel free to keep me posted. Cheers! 🙂
