Dear HP Support,

I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration regarding the misleading information provided on your website regarding the capabilities of the HP Laser MFP 135w printer when used with Mac OS. I recently purchased this printer based on the specifications listed on your website (https://www.hp.com/rs-sr/products/printers/product-details/product-specifications/24494384), which made no mention of any limitations with Mac OS. However, after setting up the printer, I discovered that both printing and scanning with Mac OS are only possible at a resolution of 300 DPI. I am using Mac OS Ventura and have installed the latest version of the HP Smart For Desktop application (15.0.1).

Furthermore, I came across a forum thread (https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Scanning-Faxing-Copying/Mac-users-HP-Laser-135w-scanning-in-higher-res...) where it was mentioned that full-featured drivers for macOS are not available for the HP Laser MFP 135w printer, contradicting the information provided on your website. The lack of transparency and the discrepancy between the advertised specifications and the actual limitations of the printer with Mac OS is highly concerning.

I kindly request that you address this issue as soon as possible. It is essential that you update your website and clearly state the limitations of the printer's functionality with Mac OS, including the inability to print as indicated. As a loyal customer, I expect HP to rectify this misrepresentation promptly.

Please be informed that if this matter is not resolved satisfactorily, I will have no choice but to escalate the issue with Apple, informing them of the device's failure to function correctly as advertised. Furthermore, I will be compelled to return the printer and share my negative experience through reviews and feedback on various platforms to ensure transparency for potential customers.

I hope you understand the urgency and importance of this matter and take swift action to rectify the situation. I appreciate your attention to this issue and expect to receive a prompt and satisfactory response.

Yours sincerely,

Hi @Koshak01,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I can give you a general overview of potential misrepresentations and limitations that users might face when using the HP Laser MFP 135w printer with Mac OS.

  • Software Compatibility: Some printer models may not have fully functional drivers or software support for certain operating systems. Mac OS updates might introduce compatibility issues, leading to limited functionality or even the inability to use the printer.
  • Missing Features: Certain features available on Windows or other operating systems may not be supported on Mac OS due to differences in driver development or software priorities.
  • Limited Scan and Print Options: Users may experience limited scan and print options on the Mac platform compared to other operating systems, which might result in reduced efficiency and convenience.
  • Network Connectivity: Connectivity issues may arise when connecting the printer to a Mac OS device, such as unstable Wi-Fi connections or difficulties in setting up the printer on a network.
  • Printer Management: Printer management software provided by HP may offer more comprehensive features and control on Windows compared to Mac OS.
  • Firmware Updates: HP may release firmware updates for the printer to improve functionality or address known issues. However, these updates might be less frequent or delayed for Mac OS users compared to Windows users.
  • User Interface: The printer's user interface, accessible through a control panel or web interface, may vary in usability or available features when accessed from a Mac OS device.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction. Here's a revised version of your message:

I am appalled by such a response from a company like HP. From your answer, I understand that a technological company like yours does not update drivers for Mac OS due to potential glitches and compatibility issues?

You manufacture servers, advanced computers, and so much more, and this is your response to me?

Aren't you ashamed of yourselves?

Now, getting to the point:

I contacted you not just because of the limitations but also because you knowingly failed to mention them anywhere on your website! If I had seen that, I would never have purchased your product.

I will publish your response everywhere I can.

I am deeply disappointed in your company, a company I once admired and took pride in.

Shame on you.

Dear Alden4,

Thank you for your response and providing the link to HP Support.

I apologize for any confusion caused. My intention was to inquire if there are any alternative or unofficial drivers available for the HP Laser MFP 135w printer that could potentially enable functionality, even if they are not officially supported by HP. Specifically, I am interested in drivers that would allow the printer and scanner to work at a resolution of at least 600-1200 DPI.

If you could kindly provide any information or resources regarding this matter, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards,
