Microsoft Windows 11

My HP scanning software is suddenly MISSING the ability to scan more than one page.  It used to have 2 icons in the lower left of the screen, to scan multiple pages.  But seems it did an automatic update that I didn't know about and someone REMOVED this option.  Now I can only scan one page at a time and it forces me to save that page alone.  HELP?

Hi @SoldierCay

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like a recent update may have affected the scanning software on your HP printer, causing the multiple page scanning option to disappear. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you restore the "Scan Additional Pages" option or find an alternative way to scan multiple pages:

1. Check the HP Scan Software

  • Sometimes, the layout or options in the HP scanning software change after updates.
  • Open HP Smart or HP Scan and check the settings again to see if the multi-page scanning option is hidden or disabled. In some versions, the option to scan multiple pages may now be in a dropdown menu or under advanced settings.
  • Look for a “Scan Options” or “Advanced Settings” menu in the software that could allow you to enable multi-page scanning.

2. Re-enable the “Scan Additional Pages” Option

  • Open HP Scan or HP Smart on your computer.
  • Start a new scan, and then look at the bottom or side of the scanning interface.
  • You should see a button or link to “Add Pages” or “Multi-page” scan option.
    • In some cases, the option may appear after scanning the first page (you may have to click on the "Continue" or “Add Pages” button after completing the first page).
  • Make sure that the scanner is set to “Document Feeder” (if your printer has an Automatic Document Feeder – ADF) to scan multiple pages automatically.

3. Update or Reinstall the HP Scanning Software

If the options are still missing, the update could have caused a glitch in the software. Here’s how to fix it:

  • Check for Updates for your HP printer and scanning software via HP Support Assistant or directly through the HP website.
  • Reinstall the HP scanning software to ensure the latest version is installed:
    1. Uninstall the current HP software from your computer.
    2. Download the latest HP scanning software from HP's official website.
    3. Reinstall it, making sure to select the full feature driver and software package during installation.
  • Once installed, check to see if the multi-page scanning feature is available again.

4. Use HP Scan and Capture App (Windows)

If you're using Windows, you can also try using the HP Scan and Capture app, which allows for multi-page scanning:

  • Open the HP Scan and Capture app.
  • Choose your HP printer and configure the scan settings.
  • Select the multi-page option (the app will prompt you to scan additional pages if needed).

I hope this helps.
