Trying to use mobile fax from the HP Smart App on a PC.  When entering the fax number, i select country and phone number.  If i enter say 2 6124 8813 it will automatically change the number to 02 6124 8813.  This causes an issue because it is not the correct number and does not work.

HP, can you please remove the auto entry of the '0' before the number.  This is not how dialling works in Australia when dialling from an international number, only when dialling locally.

There are no setting within the app to change/turn off this setting

Hi @Quincon

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

We acknowledge the concern you have raised regarding the Mobile Fax feature in the HP App. The automatic insertion of a leading “0” when entering Australian numbers is impacting the way the fax is dialed, and we understand the importance of having accurate number formatting.

Here are the steps you can follow to ensure the fax number is entered correctly:

  1. Open the HP App on your PC.
  2. Navigate to Mobile Fax from the home screen.
  3. Select the country code carefully. For Australia, ensure the country code (+61) is chosen.
  4. Enter the fax number without the leading zero. For example, instead of typing 02 6124 8813, enter 6124 8813 after selecting the country code.
    • The app may visually display the number with a leading zero, but the dialing process uses the country code and the digits you entered.
  5. Double-check the preview screen before sending the fax. The HP App shows the final formatted number, and this is the number that will be dialed.
  6. Send the fax once the number appears correctly with the country code.

For further clarity, HP provides detailed guidance on using Mobile Fax within the HP App here:
HP Mobile Fax – Send a Fax from the HP App

Summary: The HP App automatically formats numbers based on local dialing rules, but when the country code is selected and the number is entered without the leading zero, the fax is transmitted correctly. Reviewing the preview screen ensures the number is properly formatted before sending.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Screenshot 2026-04-14 1402531.jpgThank you for your reply.  Unfortunately this does not work as it shows an error as 'invalid format' (screenshot attached).  The app requires an area code and if you just enter '2' (NSW code) it automatically inserts the '0' and so it fails.
