Hi @Amycooke007,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing difficulties with your HP Smart app not auto-detecting multiple photos on the scanner bed of your HP5255 printer. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

  • Check for Updates: Make sure your HP Smart app is up to date. Sometimes, outdated software can cause compatibility issues or bugs. Update the app to the latest version available in your app store.
  • Restart Devices: Try restarting both your printer and the device you're using to run the HP Smart app (e.g., smartphone, tablet, computer). This can sometimes resolve temporary glitches.
  • Adjust Scanner Settings: Check the settings within the HP Smart app to see if there are any options related to scanning multiple photos. There might be a setting that needs to be enabled for auto-detection of multiple photos.
  • Scan from the Printer: Instead of using the HP Smart app, try initiating the scan directly from the printer's control panel. Many HP printers have a scan option where you can select the type of scan you want to perform, including scanning multiple photos.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
