@TS2412, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding 'Hang' Issue with HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3302 When Scanning!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3302 hangs during scanning, you can try the following solutions to address this issue:

Update Printer Firmware from the Control Panel

A firmware update may help resolve scanning issues. Follow these steps to update the firmware directly from the printer's control panel:

  1. From the printer control panel home screen, touch Menu, and then Tools.
  2. Scroll down, and then touch Maintenance.
  3. Scroll down, and then touch Firmware.
  4. Touch OK.

The printer will automatically check and install the updated firmware version.

Update Printer Firmware from the Embedded Web Server (EWS)

You can also update the firmware using the Embedded Web Server (EWS). This method requires you to know the printer's IP address:

  1. Find the printer IP address from the control panel:
    • On the home screen, touch Menu, and then Info.
    • Touch Connectivity to reveal the IP address.
  2. Open the Embedded Web Server:
    • On your computer, open a web browser.
    • In the browser address line, type the IP address or host name and press Enter.
  3. On the EWS Home page, click General > Firmware Update.
  4. Click Check for Update, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

I'm sorry. But since January the 20. there is no new Firmware Update for my printer.
And the problem is not fixed.
There are many friendly answers from hp, but no fix. And I'm nearly sure, the bug is inside the Printer, not in my infrastructure.
Best Regards.

This is my last HP printer!
Terrible experience

Dear,

I had a similar problem with the scan function of my HP printer.  After a lot of investigation and trying things out, I found most problems are caused by the printer going into sleep mode too quickly.

My problem was solved completely by changing the energy settings of the printer.

Go to EWS.  Then under general->power settings-> energy settings set "sleep after inactivity" to 30 minutes and "inactivity shutdown" to 1 hours.

Cheers,

I'm having the exact same problem with my MFP 3302 as described by the thread starter and some others.

It's a brand new device, and the problem occurred from purchase on. HP phone support could not help. I got a substitute item via my vendor, same results.

  • same issue, whether I scan via Windows, Linux or the embedded web server; thus, the problem is not related to a specific driver or operating system
  • tried behind three different routers to exclude some (strange) network issue
  • printer firmware is up to date
  • took care that the internal time of the printer is set correctly to exclude synchronization issues or something alike
  • tried changing the timers for standby

All that with no success.

Is there any progress with this issue?

Thank you and regards
