I understand you are facing an issue with your HP ENVY 4500 printer no longer scanning, here are a few steps you can follow to troubleshoot the issue:

 

1. Check the Connection:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer via USB or Wi-Fi.
  • If using Wi-Fi, verify that both the printer and the computer are connected to the same network.

2. Restart the Printer and Computer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it for about 30 seconds before plugging it back in.
  • Restart your computer as well to refresh the connection.

3. Update or Reinstall the HP Software:

  • Go to HP's support website and download the latest drivers and software for your HP ENVY 4500.
  • You can also try uninstalling and reinstalling the HP software to make sure it is correctly set up.

4. Check for Scanning Software Issues: 

  • If you are using the HP Smart app or another scanning application, make sure it's up to date.
  • Try scanning from the printer's control panel (if it has a scan-to-email or scan-to-PC option) to isolate whether the issue is with the printer or software.

5. Check for Errors:

  • Look at the printer’s display screen or error lights for any warning messages. You may need to clear any errors before scanning will work again.

6. Check the Scanner Settings:

  • On your computer, go to the "Devices and Printers" section (Windows) or "Printers & Scanners" (macOS) and ensure the HP ENVY 4500 is set as the default printer and scanner.
  • Try scanning directly through the computer's built-in scanning software, such as Windows Fax and Scan.

7. Perform a Printer Reset:

  • If none of the above works, you can reset the printer to its default settings. This can sometimes resolve connectivity or software conflicts.
