HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Printer

HP ENVY 4500 ALL IN ONE has now decided not to scan or copy and will only print. I have powered off and on. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. I have followed all the recommended troubleshooting methods that there are. I am at a loss. The message says that the device is 'busy' and to try again later....

It sounds frustrating when your HP ENVY 4500 isn't functioning as expected. Since you’ve already tried the basic troubleshooting steps, here are a few additional things you can try.

 

Check for Errors:

  • Make sure there are no error messages or warnings on the printer’s display panel.

Ensure No Pending Jobs:

  • Sometimes, pending or stuck print jobs can cause issues with other functions. Go to your printer's queue and cancel any pending jobs.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check this through the HP Support website or using the HP Smart app.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Unplug the printer from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and power it on.

Reset Printer Settings:

  • Sometimes, resetting the printer to its factory settings can resolve such issues. Check the printer's menu or settings for a factory reset option.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Make sure you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. Visit the HP website and download the latest drivers for your ENVY 4500.

Check Connectivity:

  • Ensure the printer is properly connected to your computer or network, as connectivity issues can sometimes cause the printer to act as "busy."

Examine for Paper Jams:

  • Ensure there are no paper jams or other obstructions inside the printer that could be causing issues with scanning and copying.

Scan Using HP Software:

  • Try scanning using the HP Smart app or any other HP scanning software instead of relying on the printer's control panel.
