Photosmart C5180
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My printer recently stopped printing and  I received a "expired ink"  warning.  I overrid the warning and got my printer working by pulling out all the cartridges, waiting, and putting them back in.  The printer now works fine, but my scanner won't.  I try scanning to computer, (to create a file to email), and I receive the same expired ink warning.  It won't scan.   Scanning to file doesn't require ink, so I'm at a loss as to why this is happening.  Anyone have any fixes, work arounds, or any way to resolve this without buying a new batch of printer cartridges.  The C5180 requires 5 color cartridges and a large black one.  The ones I am using are less than a month out of the package!  Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Thank you for your reply and help DavidSMP!  I did try all the resets and restarts, to no avail.  I finally downloaded my  HP upgrade for Windows 10 and reinstalled again.  I then downloaded the HP Print and Scan Doctor, ran it, restarted my whole system, opened the HP Digital Imaging Monitor, re-tried scanning to file, and this time it worked!  I was then able to email the forms  I scanned to file, and happily solved my problems.
