My HP Smart app does not have "Advanced Presets" option for scanning. How do I get that added?

The "Advanced Presets" option in the HP Smart app is not available for all printer models, as its features depend on the printer's capabilities and the app version. The HP ENVY 5055 All-in-One Printer may not support this option natively. However, here are a few steps to explore and potentially resolve the issue.

 

Update the HP Smart App

  • Ensure you are using the latest version of the HP Smart app on your device. Check for updates in your app store (Microsoft Store, Mac App Store, Google Play, or Apple App Store).
  • Sometimes new features are added in updates.

Check for Firmware Updates

  • Update your printer’s firmware to ensure it supports the latest features:
    1. Open the HP Smart app.
    2. Select your printer.
    3. Navigate to Printer Settings or Tools.
    4. Look for a firmware update option and install any available updates.

Check for Scan Settings

  • Open the HP Smart app.
  • Go to the Scan section.
  • Click on More Settings or Advanced Options (if available) and explore if any presets can be configured there.

Reinstall the HP Smart App

  • If the Advanced Presets option is missing and your printer supports it, reinstalling the app may resolve the issue:
    • Uninstall the HP Smart app.
    • Download and install it again from the respective app store.
    • Reconfigure your printer and test scanning options.

Alternative Software for Scanning

If the HP Smart app doesn't provide the features you need, consider using these alternatives:

  • Windows/Mac: Use the Windows Fax and Scan tool or the built-in scanning utility on Mac (Preview or Image Capture).
  • Mobile Devices: Use third-party scanning apps that offer advanced options, such as Adobe Scan or Genius Scan.
