OfficeJet 6962
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

It will Print and Fax, but it just wont Scan. The printer says that it cannot detect a connection to my computor. But, it must have some sort of connection since it was able to Scan. Instead of scanning, it tells me to "open the HP Printer software, select 'Scanner Actions', and then select 'Manage Scan to Computor'".

When I open the HP Printer software, it gives me no such options that involve scanning. When I open the tab that says "scan", there is text that says "You cannot use this function because it has been disabled. For more information, contact the person who set up the printer". But, I am the one who set up the printer and I was sure that this function was not disabled. I just don't know what is gooing on, someone please help.

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP OfficeJet 6962 printer. I understand that you are getting the network scanner connection error and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.

Restart devices and check driver scan settings

Run the Print and Scan Doctor.

Uninstall and reinstall the printer software.

Check Windows Image Acquisition settings.

  1. Search Windows for view local services, and then click the View local services Control panel setting in the list of results.

    The Services window opens.

  2. Find Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) in the Name column and look at the Status and Startup type values.

    • If the status is 'Started' and the Startup type is 'Automatic', WIA is running correctly. Skip to the next step.

    • If the status is 'Disabled', right-click Windows Image Acquisition (WIA), click Properties, click the General tab, click Start under the Service status, and then select Automatic from the Startup type dropdown menu.

Temporarily disable firewall software on the computer.

Click here and refer the document to perform above steps.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers.
