My printer/fax machine won't fax

My HP Office Jet will not send a fax. I need help with troubleshooting. Not sure if connections in back have been distributed but every time I try and send i get back message that there is no answer.

Could be that whomever you are trying to contact (fax) is really not answering.

Not sure about where you are located -- here on the West Coast, things are disrupted in a lot of areas, including the power, Internet, Fax / Data lines, just about anything carried on a wire.

Fax is one of the more extensively covered subjects in your printer's  User Guide

For example,

An entire chapter is dedicated to Fax operation > Chapter 5 - Fax - Starting on Page 50

Troubleshooting information is included in Chapter 10 - Solve a Problem > Fax > Starting on Page 124

What else?

Open the document and read section:  Cannot send faxes

Send a Fax Test to the Fax Test number -- if the test service is running and your setup is correct, you might get a response to help you understand whether the Fax is working.
