My printer keeps showing "Scanner Failure" and I cannot scan or have the printer copy and print as a result. I attempted to remove the power source from the rear of the printer as well as the outlet, wait 30 seconds and then plug the power source back into the printer and a different direct wall outlet. This did not work. When placing something on the scan glass, the light source does not illuminate and the "scanner failure" again chimes.

Hi @Rosalinda25,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet 8035e printer is displaying a "scanner failure" message, there are several troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue. Here are some suggestions.
- Restart the printer: Turn off the printer, unplug the power cord, and wait for about 60 seconds. Then, plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer. This simple step can often resolve temporary issues.
- Check the scanner mechanism: Ensure that there are no obstructions or paper jams in the scanner area. Open the scanner lid and look for any debris or foreign objects that may be blocking the scanner's movement. Carefully remove any obstructions you find.
- Reset the printer: Sometimes, resetting the printer can help resolve errors. Locate the reset button on your printer (usually a small hole) and use a paperclip or a similar object to press and hold the button for a few seconds. The printer should reset, and you can try using the scanner again.
- Update the printer firmware: Outdated firmware can sometimes cause issues. Visit the HP support website and search for your printer model. Look for any available firmware updates and follow the instructions provided to update the firmware.
- Reinstall printer drivers: Corrupted or outdated printer drivers can also lead to scanner failures. Uninstall the existing printer drivers from your computer, then visit the HP support website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer model.
- Check connections: Ensure that all cables connecting the printer to your computer or network are securely plugged in. If you're using a USB connection, try using a different USB port on your computer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
