I find that when I scan a document of 5 or more pages, and then save it to a folder, it has a much larger size than the original document.  This becomes a problem when attaching the document to an E-mail message.  The increased size can not be handled by the server for my MSN network.  Is there a method, via settings, to prevent the document from increasing in size when scanned, saved, and attached to an E-mail message?  Thank you for your help.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Are you trying to scan multiple pages using the ADF (Document feeder)?

Please try few steps recommended below.

Right-click the Start button () or the lower left corner of the screen, click Search, type HP, and then click the name of your printer.
Click Scan a Document or Photo.
In the left window of the scan dialog, select a shortcut based on what you are scanning.
With the shortcut highlighted, select your preferences. The preferences listed below are examples, and more can be found in the software.
Scan Size: Letter, legal, 4x6 inch (10x15 cm), custom
Any preferences changed for these shortcuts are not saved after the scanning dialog is closed. To make permanent changes, you must create a custom scan shortcut.
Once you have finished selecting your settings, click Scan.

Dear MrRobot:

Your advice gave sent me to the settings screen to review my settings I have been using.  I found that the Resolution settings allow eight choices (from 75 dpi to 4600 dpi).  My setting was for 300 dpi.  I reset to 75 dpi and ended up with a document size of 7,469 KB.  This was a manageable size to be handled by my E-mail server.  I checked the quality of my document and found it to be excellent.  Thus, I will utilize a lower dpi setting when E-mailing future documents.

I really appreciate your advice to dig into my settings and finding some choices of settings that might give me problems when scanning various documents.
