Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

I just purchased this new scanner, HP PS100 portable scanner. I followed the instructions and made sure it was plugged into my laptop and turned on. I tried to download the software and use the scanner. For some reason, my scanner wasn't found. I've tried many times and even searched on the HP site, but I still can't get it connected. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. If I can't get it to work, I'll have to return this scanner.

I understand your HP PS100 portable scanner not being detected by your laptop after installing the software. Let’s go through a few connection checks that usually resolve detection issues with portable scanners.

Confirm the USB connection
Make sure the scanner is connected directly to the laptop using the USB cable, not through a USB hub or adapter.
Portable scanners rely on the USB connection for both power and data detection.

Try a different USB port or cable
Connect the scanner to another USB port on the laptop.
If available, try a different USB cable that supports data transfer (some cables are power-only).

Check Device Manager detection (Windows)
Right-click Start → Device Manager.
Look under Imaging devices or Unknown devices to see if the scanner appears when plugged in.

Install the full feature scanner software
Download and install the HP PS100 full software package from HP Support instead of using automatic driver detection.
Restart the laptop after installation before reconnecting the scanner.

Test with Windows Scan
Open the Windows Scan app and click New Scan.
If the scanner appears there, the connection is working and only the HP software needs configuration.

Power-cycle the scanner
Turn the scanner off, disconnect it from USB, wait 30 seconds, then reconnect and turn it back on.

I hope this helps.
