Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

HP ENVY Photo 7130
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Since the latest version of HP Smart was pushed onto us I now find I can't save any images that have been edited with either cropping or anything else. Whenever the Done button is clicked it ALWAYS reverts to the original scan deleting any edits made. This has now been going on for too long and obviously a bug in this software rendering it completely useless with NO resolution of the bug.

This useless version needs to be binned and "updated" to the old version that actually worked.

After trying everything I can think of including reinstalling the completely useless app, rebooting the computer, switching the printer on and off, switching off the Auto-Enhancements feature, etc., etc., it's obvious it's a major bug in the app and not the computer or the printer. Doesn't HP actually test these things before releasing it? Obviously not!

SO COME ON HP GET SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS OR LET US REVERT TO THE OLD VERSION!!!!!!!!!! You've had enough time now.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.  We'll recommend the HP FULL software solution.

Can you download and install the FULL featured printer software from HP for your operating system:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-envy-photo-7100-all-in-one-printer-ser...

Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.

This resource will be a good reference :

After install, start the HP Printer Assistant or click on the HP scan icon on the desktop to scan.

Hope that helps.

Many thanks for the reply.

So by what you're saying the new version of the HP Smart app doesn't work and you're not going to fix it?

However the last time I downloaded and installed the fall featured printer solution it knocked out my film scanner so that isn't a solution. The solution is to have the new version of the HP Smart app working correctly or to allow us to roll back to the old version which worked without any problems.

Thanks for taking the time to put the information here.

However the problem is still present even if in the Auto-Enhancements the Orientation is turned Off. In fact I have it permanently turned off but did try turning it on and back off again closing down the program and starting it up again. The problem is a bug in the app that prevents the edits from being saved whenever Done is clicked on as it reverts to the original scan. This is a problem that so far, after more than three months, HP have failed to fix and not just for me but by the postings here, and elsewhere, for many others too. So, yes, after all this time I am getting annoyed as it has in effect turned the device into just a printer and I should have a three in one device.

In the old days the solution would have been simple as you could delete this latest non-working version of the program and reinstall the last working version. However you don't appear to be able to do that anymore so it would be nice for HP, if they can't be bothered to fix this for their customers, to give us the option of going back to the old working version.

Most sensible people will admit that with such a widespread problem the service from HP to resolve this is non-existent and extremely poor treatment of their customers.
