New problem scanning multi-page documents.

HP Recommended
Officejet 6700 Premium
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When scanning multi-page documents OR when using the "+" key to add pages to a document being scanned, the software now saves the pages as individual files. So, a 10 page document creates 10 individual files, each with the same name. This problem was first detected on 01/20/21, so I suspect a recent software upgrade is probably the reason for the problem.

If you believe the software to be at fault, uninstall / restart / install a fresh copy of the full driver.

 

NOTE:

The Full Feature Software is available - driver was last released in 2015 - it might still be compatible with the  newest versions of Windows 10.

 

  • Uninstall the existing printer software from Programs and Features
  • Restart the computer and log in

 

  • Open Category Software and Drivers (possibly subcategory Software-Utility) in your printer Support Website  

 

  • Download-and-Save the printer software (Full Feature Software / HP Smart / HP Easy Start)
  • Navigate to the folder in which you saved the software installation package (likely Downloads)
  • Right-Click on the downloaded package and "Run as Administrator" to start the installation
  • Reminder:  If using Easy Start, select the Full Driver
  • After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in

  HP ScanExtended

  • Download-Save-Install >  HP Scan Extended 
  • HPSE is a subset an older Full Feature Software suite. 
  • HPSE features are very similar to the HP Scan Software released after 2015.
  • Although HPSE appears to be a separate software, HPSE is dependent on the infrastructure provided by the Full Feature Software.  The Full Feature Software for your printer should be installed before installing and using HPSE.
  • OPTIONAL:  Add HP Scan Extended shortcut to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start
    • Open File Explorer > Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP Scan Extended\bin
    • Right-Click HPScan.exe > Select Pin to Taskbar
    • Right-Click HPScan.exe > Select Send to Desktop (Create a Shortcut)
    • Right-Click HPScan.exe > Select Pin to Start

 

  • HP Scan Extended features include (and are not limited to): Single, Multiple scans, Image and PDF scans, Email as PDF / JPEG, Source selection, Page Size choices include Auto-Detect (extracts image / document boundary).  Might include OCR (Save as Editable Text).

  • Download the appropriate version (32bit or 64bit) of the program from the Website and install the program

How to find Help within the Irfanview software

Once installed, open the software > tab Help

 

Example help entry:

Vertical/Horizontal Flip

  • Click on the Image Menu, then Vertical Flip. The image will turn upside-down. The left/right orientation will stay the same.
  • Click on the Image Menu, then Horizontal Flip. The image will turn side-to-side, as in a mirror.

Note: The effect can be used on a smaller portion (rectangle selection) of an image, as well as the entire image.
