I'm trying to find documentation on how to get a button on the M426's display window that allows me to scan to the computer. When I go to the scanner it gives me options to scan to usb, scan to email, but nothing that says "scan to computer". The scanner is connected via USB to an iMac running OS X 10.15.1. Tried updating the driver and firmware. Please help.

Hi,
Scanning to a computer from the printer front panel is not supported on HP Laserjet printers.
You may connect the printer to the network and set up scanning to a network folder or email to scan from the control panel, else use the HP Scan software to scan.
Be aware that HP Easy Scan is not currently supported in Catalina, scanning can be done from image capture as a workaround:

That's very unfortunate. Any idea why that is no longer supported. The user isn't very mobile so having to get up and down or going back and forth to the scanner every time she needs change the item scanned or turn a page. I guess we'll have to figure out a different place to put it or look into a different scanner that will allow "scan to computer".

Hi,
This is not supported on most HP laserjet printers, scanning to a computer will only be supported on HP Inkjet printers in most cases.
You may find its specifications below, see the 'Scanner Advanced Features' section:

You may connect the printer to the wireless network and set up scanning to Email, or plug a USB stick to the printer and then scan to it and access it from your Mac, scanning to a folder is another option, however, you may experience issues with such when using Catalina as of now, till there will be future updates on this matter.
Hope that helps,
Shlomi
