Microsoft Windows 11

I ahave using using Outlook for Desktop on WIn10, scanning into an email from my HP LJ MFP 1536. Just purchased new Dell Win11. Connect via USB. DINstalled COMPETE driver package. Drivers install OK for printing, but there is no additinoal scanning program or ability to scan directly into Outlook for Desktop. Can this be done with Win11.  HP Smart does not find my priter using USB. How can I scan now with Win11? Thanks.

@littfred, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

To scan documents directly into Outlook for Desktop on your new Dell Windows 11 computer using your HP LaserJet MFP 1536 via USB, follow these steps:

Step 1: Confirm Driver Installation

Ensure that you have installed the complete driver package for the HP LaserJet MFP 1536. You can download the drivers from the HP Support website.

Step 2: Use Windows Built-In Scanning Tools

Windows 11 provides built-in scanning tools that you can use if third-party scanning software is not available.

Option 1: Windows Fax and Scan

  1. Open Windows Fax and Scan:
    • Press the Windows key and type "Windows Fax and Scan," and then select it from the search results.
  2. Set up a new scan:
    • Click "New Scan" in the toolbar.
    • Ensure that your HP LaserJet MFP 1536 is selected as the scanner.
  3. Adjust Scan Settings:
    • Choose the scan settings such as color format, file type, resolution, etc.
    • Click "Preview" to see the scan before finalizing.
    • Click "Scan" to start the scan.

Option 2: Microsoft Scan (Available from Microsoft Store)

  1. Download Microsoft Scan:
    • Open the Microsoft Store app.
    • Search for "Microsoft Scan" and install the application.
  2. Scan Document:
    • Open the Microsoft Scan app.
    • Select your HP LaserJet MFP 1536.
    • Adjust scan settings and preview the document.
    • Click "Scan" to initiate the scan.

Helpful, but need a bit more.

The features in the Windows 10 HP scan app were comprehensive and excellent.

The Windows SCAN app is pretty good, but you can't properly rotate pages when scanning on BOTH SIDES. So, when you scan on both side, the odd pages are proper and the even pages are upside down. If you can advise howtoresolve this, we may have a decent substitte. Thanks.
