HP ENVY Inspire 7252e All-in-One Printer

I have been able to use the scanner on my HP Envy Inspire 7252e printer since I purchased it a few years ago; however, today when I tried to scan to my computer, I received an error message stating "HP Smart cannot scan from this printer."  I have tried everything from restarting my printer and computer to uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but still have had no luck.  Any suggestions?

If HP Smart cannot scan from your HP ENVY Inspire 7252e All-In-One Printer, there could be several reasons behind the issue. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve this problem:

 

Troubleshooting Steps:

Check Connection:

  • Ensure that your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer or mobile device.
  • If you are using a USB connection, make sure the cable is securely connected.

Restart Devices:

  • Turn off your printer, computer, and router.
  • Wait for about 30 seconds.
  • Turn on the router first and wait for it to fully restart.
  • Turn on the printer and then your computer.

Update HP Smart and Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure that you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your computer or mobile device.
  • Check for firmware updates for your printer:
    • Open the HP Smart app.
    • Go to Printer Settings.
    • Look for a firmware update option and follow the on-screen instructions to update if available.
    • Or check the HP WEBSITE

Reinstall HP Smart:

  • Uninstall the HP Smart app from your computer or mobile device.
  • Download and reinstall the latest version of the HP Smart app from the HP website or your device's app store.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows):

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool from the HP Support website.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and fix any issues related to scanning.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Ensure that scanning is enabled on your printer:
    • From the printer's control panel, navigate to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.
    • Confirm the reset and try scanning again.

Verify Scan Settings:

  • Open the HP Smart app.
  • Go to the Scan section.
  • Check and adjust the scan settings to ensure they are correctly configured.

Check Firewall/Antivirus Settings:

  • Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software on your computer that might be blocking the scanning function.
  • Try scanning again with the firewall or antivirus disabled.

Additional Steps:

Check Compatibility:

  • Ensure that your operating system is compatible with the HP ENVY Inspire 7252e and the HP Smart app.

Alternative Scanning Software:

  • Try using an alternative scanning software, such as the built-in Image Capture on macOS or Windows Fax and Scan on Windows.
