My Deskjet 2450 installed on a new computer with Smart App which I do not like to use. I have to hunt for my scanned documents.  I did manage to find a few but one seems to be lost.  Is there any way to return to the previous printer operation. It was so much simpler.  I have no way to access the prior operation method.  Please save my printer--and my sanity. And, by the way, I need simple, step by step directions if there are any.  Thank you for any assistance.

No DeskJet 2450 -- there is a DeskJet 2540 and it is still supported in Windows 11 with the full driver printer software.

 

 

Full Driver Printer Software

HP Deskjet 2540 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers 

 

This is really old software (version 32.x from 2015) -- there is little new about the way it installs compared to how you have done it in the past.

 

Once the software is installed, look for the installed software in

Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features

and

AND (this is new)

Settings > Printers & scanners

Look for the printer software listed under the name of the printer

Click into the printer's menu to find the sorts of menus / settings you used to find in Devices and Printers.

If this is not comfortable, click into the printer > scroll down and select "More devices and printers settings" (the old Devices and Printers)

 

The following example is for a different software -- the basic menus selection / paths look similar ...

What's the same?

HP Scan will be there (part of the full driver printer software).

 

Since the printer and the printer software are older, it is true that some things might not work the way you expect or want. 

 

When you are ready, consider investing in a new printer -- we (of course) recommend HP, but you can get whatever you like -- any new printer will likely better serve your printing needs in your new computer.
