At least once a month now (printer purchased 8 months ago) this error comes up overnight, as in the morning when I walk into the room, I am greeted by all printer lights flashing and a blue screen with this error code. I can't find out what it is. But it does go away on a reboot of printer. I would like it to stop happening and I worry that something is "going" on the printer since it happens regularly. Anyone know what it is or a database to search for it ? Thanks.

The exact reason for the error code is unknown. This type of error occurs when there is an issue with the firmware of the printer. Usually performing a reset helps. If the issue persists after the reset, it could be a hardware failure.
Keep me posted for any other assistance.

Hi @Gabyrn
Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you. Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:
Update the printer firmware
Click here to download and install the latest firmware from your computer.
Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.
Check for any jams inside the printer. Make sure the print carriage is moving freely.
Refer to the steps mentioned in this document.
If the error persists, we will have to perform a factory reset on the printer.
- The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
- I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
- In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thank you , Kumar. I tried the update, but it would not process as it said it was up-to-date.
No jams anywhere.
I would like to know what B85F4F78 stands for; what is the error?
As I said, a simple reboot gets rid of it temporarily, but this is the second time it has come back.
Why would it keep on happening months later?
I am hesitant to perform a factory reset.............
