I have a newly developed problem in saving a scanned image. My HP Office Jet Pro 8600 plus is communicating okay with my MacPro conputer but the save as option is greyed out. I have tried savving in jpg and pdf but greyed out now. I am not sure how this develpoed. I have had the sytem for a few years and am only just now finding this issue. I am asked for a prefix (I don't remeber this but ...) and no matter what I enter here the save as button remains greyed out.
It works if I choose "print" scanned image and then print as a saved pdf.
I have tried turning everything on and off. The scanner is connected to the computer wirelessly.
Any help will be appreciated.

Hi,
Thanks for using the HP Forums.
Have you installed the HP Easy Scan software?
If you have not, we would recommend that you do so and use the HP Scan.
Let us know if that works (that you're able to save your work) after you have used the HP Easy Scan.

Thank you very much. I did not have HP Easy Scan software (I had HP Scan) but I have now downloaded it and am able to save my scans as before.
Should I now delet the HP Scan app?
I remain puzzled what suddenly caused HP Scan to not save the scan as before. I have been using it on this computer for yeras. I am not sure what triggered the change. Perhaps it was macOS Sierra?
