I am having trouble setting up scanning directly from the printer's touchscreen menu, preferably to an email.

 

I have installed the HP Smart app on my desktop and I can use this to scan a document to the computer - that works fine. And I can then use "Share" within the app to send the scan to my email address.

 

But I would like to directly use the "Scan" button on the printer's menu to email myself a scan, not only through the HP Smart app.

 

When I click on "Scan" on the printer's menu, I get a message "Software required - To scan to a computer, use the HP software on your computer to set up this feature first". I am not sure what else I need to do to set up this feature, can anyone help?

That printer model doesn't support scan to email from the printer's front panel.

You can only use the scan to PC but you need full software installed on PC to be able to use that feature.
