Can I use the ADF to create double-sided copies from double-sided originals? I'm getting different answers on the Web! I think the OfficeJet 9020, and maybe the 9015, can do this; but I have a 9010, so maybe not.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.

Yes it does, this resource shows how it's done:

Hope that helps!

Thanks for your reply! However, I tried exactly this procedure two days ago, and again five minutes ago, and it does NOT work with the 9010. Instead, I get a message in the computer screen: "The selected paper or tray cannot be used for copying on both sides of a page. / Job canceled."

I notice also that in your recommended video, when the procedure is shown for the 9010 SERIES, there is an overlying message that this is actually a 9015 that is doing the job. I assume this means the 9015 can do it, but the 9010 cannot (even though at the beginning the narrator says it works on "9010 series printers").

So I'm guessing I'm not gonna be able to do it. But if you have any further suggestions, I'd welcome them!

Waitaminnit! I took a second look at my printer, and it IS a 9015, just as in the video. So it SHOULD be able to copy 2-sided! I must be doing something wrong: any ideas?

OK, I've gotta apologize, but it was a very hidden and subtle setting that was defeating me. It turns out you can't do 2-sided copying if you have the printer set for photo paper! I saw that in some random discussion, and it finally sunk in. I reset the printer to plain paper, and it spat out the double-sided copy just fine!

Sorry to bother you; but I often find the best way to force myself to find a solution to a computer problem is first to post it on a forum as a problem. Somehow that inspires my creativity!

Hi @Khjalmarj

Glad to hear that your issue is resolved and all is working well now.  We wanted to ask what media type AND Size was put in the tray.  Photo paper and some media sizes will not be able print double-sided.

Also, the Tray settings on the Control panel need to be set to a Media type and size that supports Double-sided as well.

Good to hear that you have it all figured out!

Have a nice day!
