Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

My scanner is not working for couple weeks now and I have tried the most common solutions that are available to correct the problem including restarting, rebooting, reconnecting, updating driver and using HP smart help but still scanning feature does not work. Here the message that I get on the printer screen-

Server Problem

The printer could not connect to web services. The server might be busy or temporarily unavailable. Try again later.

All other printing services are working. I am connected to my network through wifi and printing services through that are working fine.

Hello,

This is unfortunately a very common problem lately, it's clearly an issue with the HP Smart app itself.

Please check that your printer is not in the list linked here below

I suspect the HP Smart app is somehow using web services to communicate with the scanner that now aren't supported anymore, you will in fact notice that if you try to scan from the HP smart app, while you are getting the "cannot communicate with the scanner" error, the scanner is actually working.

For the moment I suggest you to use third party software (e.g. Scanner app by Microsoft from Microsoft store if you have Win 10, with that the scanner is working flawlessly) until HP doesn't fix the problem.
