Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

Brand New HP OfficeJet Pro 8035 w/ Updated Firmware

  • After loading a document in the printer’s ADF to scan directly from the printer’s panel, the printer screen immediately confirms: "Document Loaded"; However, after tapping “Scan > ‘Computer’” on the printers control panel, the scanner always scans automatically from the flatbed even though the document is still in the feeder and there is no document loaded on the flatbed.
  • Moreover, after tapping “Scan” on the printer’s panel, the display does not give me a choice to scan either a document or a photo as it does in the HP Smart App and in the printer’s “Copy” tab.
  • The ADF works fine in the printer’s “Copy” tab. The problem only occurs with the Printer’s “Scan” command.
  • The only way to scan from feeder is to use the HP Smart App or the "Windows Fax and Scan" program (which does not scan to PDF by the way) at a computer after placing the documents in the feeder. In the "New Scan" window, change "source" to "Document Feeder". Then it will scan from feeder.

As stated above, the Printer updated its firmware, so I do not know if the printer’s “Scan” used to work correctly before the update.

  1. Is there any way to fix this so that the printer’s “Scan” checks the loaded the documents in the ADF and scans them automatically without the annoying hassle of opening the software on the PC?
  2. Also is there a way to revert back to the original printer firmware before it was updated, or at least is there an upcoming, future firmware update that will fix this problem?

Thank you.

Thank you for replying.

Restoring the printer defaults will not change the firmware after being installed.

Anyway, I did a hard reset to the printer and re-installed the printer specific driver and it seems to work fine now.

Thank you

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,  I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
Restore the printer to the original factory defaults

1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch (Setup).

2. Touch Printer Maintenance.

3. Touch Restore.

4. Touch Restore Factory Defaults.

A message appears stating that the factory defaults will be restored.

5. Touch Continue

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

This did not work for me. I also reloaded the software and turned it off and on. Still not working.

Ok, I will try to put down the steps  I took...

  1. I disconnected the printer from the computer.
  2. Turned off the printer, pulled out the printer power cord from the back of the printer, and then unplugged the power  cord from the wall socket-in that order
  3. On Windows, I went to device manager and from there uninstalled BOTH the printer and its driver.
  4. On the keyboard, I pressed the Win button + R together, then in the dialogue box I typed: printui.exe /s
  5. After that command, another window opened, I clicked on the "Drivers" tab, and deleted any remaining HP drivers by selecting them and clicking on "Remove"
  6. I went to HP's support sight, typed in the printer model, and downloaded the basic driver listed for the printer.
  7. I installed the driver, which in turn installs the printer software -- not the HP Smart App.
  8. I Re-powered the printer and after it finished resetting/setting-up,  reconnected it to the computer.
  9. Restarted the computer
  10. I Ran the printer software and scanned a sheet  by tapping the "Scan", making sure that "document feeder" is selected.
  11. I closed the software, put back the sheet in the document feeder. Then directly from the printer I scanned it again and it worked.

Hope this helps out.

Good Luck.
