HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e All-in-One Printer

HP OfficeJet Pro - that printed, scanned, copied, etc., just fine with my (now defunct iMac) will no longer scan using HP Smart. The error message: "This feature is not supported by the selected printer. Connect to a different printer to use this feature." Uh... why? This feature worked just fine with a previous computer. Now, with a MacBook Pro M4 chip running Sequoia 15.1.1, no luck. HP Smart, from the app store, is installed. Printing from the computer works fine.

Suggestions, please?

thanks.

It sounds like a compatibility issue between HP Smart and your new MacBook Pro with the M4 chip running macOS Sequoia 15.1.1. Here are some troubleshooting steps to resolve the scanning issue:

1. Check for HP Smart & macOS Updates

  • Ensure HP Smart is updated to the latest version from the Mac App Store.
  • Check for macOS updates (Apple menu  > System Settings > Software Update).

2. Reset the HP Smart App

  • Open HP Smart.
  • Go to HP Smart Preferences > Reset HP Smart.
  • Restart your Mac and try scanning again.

3. Reinstall HP Smart & Printer Drivers

  • Uninstall HP Smart from the Mac.
  • Remove the printer: System Settings > Printers & Scanners > Select your printer > Remove (-).
  • Restart your Mac.
  • Reinstall HP Smart from the Mac App Store and re-add your printer.

4. Use Apple’s Image Capture App Instead

If HP Smart still doesn’t recognize the scanner, try:

  1. Open Image Capture (Finder > Applications > Image Capture).
  2. Select your printer/scanner from the sidebar.
  3. Try scanning from there.

5. Check HP Easy Start or Use AirPrint Scanner

  • Download and install HP Easy Start from HP’s official website.
  • Check if AirPrint scanning works:
    • System Settings > Printers & Scanners > Select your HP printer > Check if it says "AirPrint" under "Use".
    • If AirPrint is available, try scanning with Preview or Image Capture.

6. Reset the Printing System (Last Resort)

  • System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  • Right-click (or Control + Click) in the printer list and choose Reset printing system.
  • Re-add your printer and try scanning again.

Let me know if you need further assistance! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
