HP Officejet 4500 Desktop All-in-One Printer - G510a
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I was given an HP 4500 All-in-One printer, which is about 10 years old.  I can get it to print and copy if I connect it with a USB cable (won't connect wirelessly).  When I try to get it to scan, I get a message saying "No Scan Options".  This printer is supposed to be able to scan, so I have no idea what to do.  I have tried downloading the HP Print & Scan Doctor, but all it tells me is that my printer is out of warranty.  I have gone to the HP Support website and get the same response.  I found many similar complaints online about this printer (won't scan).  Am I wasting my time trying to get it to scan?  As a printer and copier, it is very good.  I do need scanning capabilities.

I understand that you are facing scanning issues with your HP All-In-One Printer.

 

As the scanning drivers are not available for Windows 10, I suggest that you scan using Windows paint.

 

And here's the step by step guide for you to scan using the Windows Paint software:

Windows Paint: In Windows, search for and open Paint. Click File or the Menu icon , and then click “From scanner or camera”

 

You may also check the steps under “Are other scan apps and tools available?” when you click on Frequently asked questions (FAQs) in this document.
