Product: HP OfficeJet 5740 e-All-in-One Printer
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11

Printer is USB connected. After the last two Win 11 updates the computer  returns error message "the HP Officejet series 5740was not found" when trying to scan from computer. HP Print and Scan doctor says Device Manager detected a problem but gives no details.  WIA settings are correct. All updates are installed.  HD checked for errors. Have tried multiple times starting and restarting the computer and printer and doing a complete  uninstall of the printer and software and reinstalling the complete software and drivers from the HP web site. Restarted the computer after each step. Checked Print Management and Control Panel to insure that the printer was indeed uninstalled when doing that. Still not working.

 

All of the other print and fax options work just fine from both the computer and printer control panel. Printer will scan to a USB drive inserted into the printer from the printer control panel. Of course this option is extremely limited in terms of options and useless for what I need to do such as two sided multipage documents. It is only the scan from computer that will not work.

 

This happened one time before a few weeks ago and uninstalling the printer and then reinstalling the Full Feature Software and Driver Set fixed the problem, but not now. I suspect the the latest Win 11 update rendered the scanner driver incompatible.
