I have an Officejet 6500 which has stopped scanning.  The printer works fine as a printer. When I fire up 'HP Solution Center' the 'home' screen comes up. When I click on 'scan picture'  I get a little circle going round for a couple of seconds and then it disappears and nothing happens - it just stays on the home screen.   I have tried uninstalling the printer software and re-installing it, but still no scanning. The driver says it is the latest available OJ_AIO_6500_E709_Full_Win_WW_140_408-5.exe

Can anyone suggest what might be wrong?

You can also try the webscan:

 

Scanning from Chromebook (Webscan)

 

Scanning Multiple pages from Chromebook (Webscan)

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

 

How is the prinrer connected to the computer? (USB, WIreless?)

 

If it's wireless, can you try USB and see if it works?

 

ALso, are you able to copy a document using the Printer?  Does the copy function work?

 

Lastly, are there any OS updates recently that may have caused this issue?

Hi, Thanks for the reply.

The printer was connected wirelessly.

I have connected it by USB and it still does not work.  Is there a way I can make sure it is using the USB connection and not the wireless one?

Copying works fine from the front panel.

The last Windows 10 update was 25 Jan (KB3211320) but I did scan something successfully on 2nd Feb.

Any ideas?

Hi,

 

Can you try this scan solution:

 

HP Scan Extended

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"

Hi,

  Yes that works but the quality is very poor. Even scanning at 600dpi it is barely readable.  These sheets I scan normally come out very well.   As a permanent solution this is not good.

Does the copy job come out poorly (in terms of quality).

 

The software is using the latest user interface. If the quality of scan is poor, it might indicate that the scanner is at fault.

hi,

  I have tried playing around with settings and using 'enhance  content'  and 300dpi I can get a scan comparable with what I would normally get.

Are you suggesting this as a permanent solution? 

What do you think is wrong with theHP Solution Center software?

Hello I am having the same problem and used what you said and still Nothing and Help would be great because i just lost my Job and need to scan documents to my computer
