We have reinstalled this printer a number of times after doing a complete uninstall.
The printer is wired to the network / Ethernet and has a static IP address.
A few things happen:
If we try to include connecting the printer / installing to the Devices and Printers from within the HP Full install software, if we select Wired connection, the printer is not found it seems. The process goes on for a long time and finally quits.
Yet, the printer can be pinged, accessed witha browser, etc.
If we do the software install and select "connect to the printer later":
- If we use TCP/IP with no Automatic, as we usually do, then the printer installs with no Scan items in the Printer Properties menu.
- If we use the automated install, it ends up with a WSD connection and the Scan items appear in the Printer Properties menu.
If we open the HP Officejet Pro 6830 Printer Assistant, the second icon reads "Print" whereas I find examples that read "Print, Scan & Fax". This suggests that the Scan software isn't installed.
Perhaps I should be asking:
"How can I install the HP scan software reliably?"
(we have turned off Windows Fax and Scan in case it was interfering or taking over).

Thank you for the instructions. I will follow them.
But, I should tell you first:
I've done most of these things .. almost all of them.
When I go to remove the driver package, I get an error message that hpvyt14.inf could not be removed and I'm stuck at that point.

I'm sorry, I'm afraid I gave the wrong impression.
When I said:
"I've done most of these things .. almost all of them".
I meant that I'd done all of them but not fully successfully.
The steps
- Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
- Click on Drivers tab.
- Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
- Select OK.
- Remove all instances of the same.
- Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
were not completely successful in that the result reports that hpvyt14.inf could not be removed.
So, I cannot do any "missing steps" as it appears removing hpvyt14.inf is outside of my control .. at least until I learn how to make that happen.
I should add that once this is done, there is no way to repeat it UNTIL one reinstalls the printer and tries again!! It is no longer on the Drivers list,,,,
I hope this is clearer.
Thanks for sticking with me on this pesky issue!

OK. Thank you!
I found another thread where the recommended approach was to use RevoUninstaller on hpvyt14.inf. I use RevoUninstaller quite a bit and am wondering how one removes *printers* using it? I haven't tried yet but am wondering what one points it toward? I don't see printers on the Uninstall list....

Try installing the printer with Windows built-in driver.
Here is the document for the steps to install:- Click here
