Hi @manave, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The issue you're experiencing with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710—where copied documents have a green tint and appear washed out, while prints from the computer are fine—is likely due to a problem with the scanner unit rather than the printer's ink or printhead.

Troubleshooting Steps:

Check Scanner Glass and ADF for Dirt or Smudges

  • Clean the scanner glass and Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) with a lint-free cloth and glass cleaner.
  • Any dust, smudges, or debris can interfere with color accuracy when copying.

Perform a Copy Test

  • Place a blank white sheet on the scanner glass and make a copy.
  • If the copy has a green tint, the issue is likely with the scanner hardware or settings.

Adjust Copy Settings

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Copy > Settings > Color Adjustment.
  • Try increasing the brightness and adjusting the color balance.

Update or Reinstall Firmware

  • Go to HP support website and check for firmware updates for the OfficeJet Pro 8710.
  • If the firmware is outdated, install the latest update.

Reset the Printer

  • Unplug the printer while it is turned on.
  • Wait 1-2 minutes, then plug it back in.
  • Try copying again to see if the issue persists.

Use HP Scan Instead of Copy

  • Try scanning the document to your computer using the HP Smart App or HP Scan software.
  • If the scanned file is fine, but copies are distorted, this confirms a hardware issue in the copier function.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

First, I want to thank you for your suggestions on correcting the copy function on my HP8710 Officejet Pro.  I went through all your steps (twice) without any success.  I even changed out the print cartridges with new.  In the end, I agree with your conclusion that if the scanned file is fine, but copies are distorted, this confirms a hardware issue in the copier function.  Fortunately, I have other HP printers that are all working well.

Thank you again,

@manave, You're very welcome, Mike!
I appreciate you taking the time to go through all the troubleshooting steps. It sounds like you've done everything possible to fix the issue, and I agree—if scanning works fine but copying does not, it's likely a hardware failure in the copier function.
