Hi,

We bought the printer to our new office and we use only wifi.

I would like to setup the EWS with the "Scan to email" but this option is not there, only "Scan to computer".

I did update the printer firemaware and did see an option in the printer itself under apps.

so 2 issues:

1. Why i cannot see this option in the EWS?

2. How do i delete or manage and account i added by mistake with a wrong email in Apps?

Thanks

Your printer falls into the "Scan to Email App" category.  It does not support digital sending direct to email.

Datasheet

Setup instructions

User Guide > Set up Scan to Email - Page 34

I would guess that you need to "start over".

Stop Web Services

Wait a couple of minutes

Start Web Services

Get (new) claim code (printer email address)

Set up Scan to Email App

Scan to Email – Methodology

The basic methodology used with "Scan-to-Email" and “ePrint” is (printer) model dependent.

EWS Scan to Email Setup

If the printer is on the network, if the printer supports digital sending direct to email, look for the Scan to Email setup in the Embedded Web Server (EWS).

Example – EWS Scan to Email Setup

Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Scan > Scan to Email > Scan to Email Setup

“Apps” Scan to Email Setup

Printers without digital filing, that is, those printers without the ability to connect directly to the smtp server, might use the Scan-to-Email App.    On some printers the Scan to Email App is available on the printer's front panel in "Apps".

The Scan-to-Email App uses Web Services (running on the printer) as a means to communicate between the printer and the Cloud servers where the email is processed.  For this reason, Web Services must be running on the printer: HP Printers - Turning on Web Services

Example – “Apps” Scan to Email Setup

On the printer control panel > Touch Scan > Touch Email

Follow the prompts:  Welcome > Continue > Add your Email address > Done > Continue

Wait for your PIN number to be sent (emailed) to the email address > Open email, read PIN

Touch Continue > PIN > Enter Pin number > Done

Notes

Web Services provides the connection between the printer and the HP Connected / Cloud servers that are used to register and process the email.  For this reason, the HP Cloud Servers must be running and providing service.

During Scan-to-Email App registration (setup), an HP cloud server sends (back to the owner) a confirmation email that includes a PIN number.  The PIN is used to verify the owner's email address information.  The PIN is used to prove "I am me".

If there is a break in the service (Web Services communication between home network and the Cloud server(s)), the PIN cannot be sent and / or emails dependent on the Cloud servers cannot be processed.

NOTE:

If the Cloud Servers are not responding, there is normally no “fix” except to wait it out.

Hi,,

Thank you for your reply, now I understand the difference between the Apps and built-in support for smtp.

I do have another question about the App, since by mistake I have added a wrong email we cannot reach.

How can I delete this account without having the PIN code (That is sent to wrong email)?

Thanks

Did you try stopping Web Services as described in my earlier post under "start over"?

Do you have an HP Connected account?
