I have the aforementioned printer.  I have HP Smart installed.  I can scan a document from the computer in HP Smart.  However I cannot scan to computer from the printer interface.  It has nothing listed for computers, and when I select the option it just says "computer not found" with a set of options that don't exist in my HP Smart app.  In fact I see no way either on the printer or in the app to add my computer to the printer.

How do I get my computer name to show up on the printer interface, and beyond that how to I tell it what directory to put the scanned document into?  Keep in mind I can scan and print from the computer to the printer.  They are talking to each other.

@jtpryan, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are not able to scan from the printer screen. To do this, a full-feature printer driver has to be installed on the computer.

If not installed, click here to download the same.

Open the HP Printer Assistant > Scan > Manage Scan to computer > Enable

Now, try scanning.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.
