Officejet Pro 8600
Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

After updating my operating system I discovered that my scanning feature on my Officejet Pro 8600 no longer worked.  I downloaded the HP Easy Scan and can scan again BUT it takes forever!  I can no longer scan mulitple pages and when I am able to scan it sometimes cancels itself in the middle of the process.  Any suggestions on how to fix this matter?

Hey @Dashmom,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!

I understand that you are having some issues with scanning from your Mac OSX 10.11 machine. I can help you with that.

To start, make sure the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet and not a surge protector. Once done:

  1. If your printer is connected by a USB cable to your Mac, remove it.
  2. Close all open programs.
  3. Click on your Apple icon, System Preferences, and Printers and Scanners.
  4. Hold down the control key and click on the icon of your printer on the left.
  5. Click on Reset Printing System.
  6. Restart your Mac.

Now, if you removed your USB cable, connect it. If not:

  1. Click on your Apple icon, System Preferences, and Printers and Scanners.
  2. Click on the plus in the bottom left corner.
  3. Select your printer from the list.
  4. Click in the box labelled Use and select your printer from this list.
  5. Click on Add.

Please let me know the results after following the above. If your scan speed improves, please click on Accept Solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. Both icons are below this post.
