I do not know how to hook this up so the scanner works. It says I need to change a setting but all it talks about is windows and not mac????

@Juliap2, Welcome to HP Support Community!

 

Have you tried using other scanning applications like Apple Image Capture and HP Smart? Refer to the document HP Printers - How to Scan (Mac)  for help.

 

If the issue persists, uninstall the HP Printer Software and try again. Follow the steps from the document HP Printers - Uninstalling HP Printer Software (Mac)

 

Try scanning.
