I am getting a one-inch-wide black line down the middle of scanned documents.  Scan Doctor utility says printer is functioning normally.  Followed troubleshooting steps (cleaned glass, unplugged printer to force a reset, etc.) but problem persists.  Documents printed from computer files, including printer test pages, are normal.  Also, problem still occurs when automatic document feeder is not used.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.

Have you tried to do a copy job?  Is the black line still there?

If both copy and scan are seeing the same issue, then it's likely that the scanner is defective.

Contact HP for support if that's the case for a replacement if the printer is still under warranty.

Black line appears when copying document and when scanning to computer, so apparently I have a defective scanner.  Thanks for helping me solve this!

Hi @enesengr

Just to be sure that it's indeed a defective scanner an dnot some dirt on the scanner, can you check out the following resource and ensure that's the case:

HP AiO Printers : Resolving Vertical lines or bands on copied or scanned document

Hope that helps!
