Option to Select Print or Scan Disappeared From Software

HP DeskJet Ink Advantage Ultra 4720 All in One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This query is about theHP DeskJet Ink Advantage Ultra 4720 All-in-One Printer.  Specifically, the DJ4729.

 

I believe it is a software problem because:

 

(1) I can use the scanner with Microsoft Scan App, though it lacks the full suite of options that the HP product has and so is not really a full solution.

 

(2) If I run HP Print and Scan Doctor, I can scan just fine using the  "test" scan option at the end of P&SD.  Also I should note that according to P&SD there is no problem at all with the scanner.

 

(3) No problem accessing the printer for documents in multiple formats.

 

But, when I open the "HP DeskJet 4720 Series" app on my laptop, I do not get the typical menu which included the Print and Scan options.

 

All I want to do is hook my laptop to the printer via a USB cable to print or scan.

 

I don't need to print or scan from multiple devices.  Or multiple locations. 

 

I don't need or want wireless connections. 

 

Any suggestions appreciated.

I solved the problem by uninstalling and then re-installing my printer.
