Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I’m looking for the original software that was provided by the Scanjet G4050. 

Not onlangs the driver but also the software that can communicate with the buttons on the scanner.

 

I have surged on the HP site and the rest of the internet but good not find it anywhere.  

 

If if you can help my, perhaps maybe by sending my a copy of your own CD, I would be very grateful.

Hello,

Try installing your scanner as follows:

  1. Download the full driver: HP Scanjet Full Feature Software and Driver.
  2. Right-click on setup_full_G4000.exe and click on Properties.
  3. Click on the Compatibility tab, and then check the Run this program in compatibility mode for: box, in the drop-down list select Windows Vista.
  4. Click on Apply and OK.
  5. After that, right-click on setup_full_G4000.exe, and then on Run as administrator.
  6. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation of your scanner.

Thanks for your reply, it works perfectly.

 

And such a quick response.

I ones bought this scanner to digitize my 4/5 inch negs. And now I’m retired I have plenty of time to do so. So it’s nice that my computer supports all the functions the scanner has to offer.

I had the same problem installing the old scanner on my new HP pc running Windows 11.  It was a bit difficult to get to set the compatibility to Vista (Service Pack 2), and this is what I did:

 

When you complete the download, use File Explorer to view the file. 

Click on the file name "setup_full_G4000" to highlight it. 

Then right click for the first action screen.  Click on Show More Options. 

Then click on Troubleshoot Compatibility. 

Choose Troubleshoot Programs. 

On the next screen, pick the first option, and click on Next. 

Then, pick the Windows Vista (Service Pack 2) option, and click on Next.
