Original software for scanning negatives HP Scanjet G4050

Hi

I recently bought a used HP Scanjet G4050. I can't find a way to install its scanning software. I bought it to scan negatives.

There's another board post with more or less the same issue, and I installed the supposed software form the file: Setup_full_1000_20_0_0_02

But it only installs HP Phosmart Essentials.

Am I doing something wrong?

The full software is available for earlier OS, you will hardly get the full features on WIN11.

It's within the full software driver when you install it.

Apologies for jumping in unannounced.

Unfortunately, there is not software listed for this scanner and Windows 11.

Windows 10 offers the Basic Driver set -- that driver MIGHT install / run in Windows 11 -- not supported...

My problem is not the driver. My Pc recognizes the scanner, the problem is the software to scan negatives.

I installed Vuescan and it does work, but sa you know it's not free.

So how and where can I download the HP scanning software? Are there free alternatives? And I'm not talking about flat bed scanning softwares, but a program that lets me scan negatives with my G4050

I'm having the same problem using Win 10 Pro to scan 4x5 negs. I did get it to work just fine on an old Win XP 32 bit machine using the driver from the HP website: HP Scanjet G4050 Photo Scanner Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Customer Support

However, nothing works on my Win 10 machine from their software from the same website. At this point I will probably just use the XP for this project since it works albeit slowly. BTW, their software didn't work on a Win 7 64 bit machine either and from what I can tell, HP just aint talkin'.
